From Art to Impact

The Fund for Excellence addresses the most pressing needs of the School of the Arts and Architecture. Directed by the dean, generous gifts to this fund have supported a wide range of projects touching every facet of university life, including:

• critical facilities upgrades, such as improvements to the school’s exhibition gallery, where all art students now have the opportunity to present their work in a professional setting;
• public programming, such as a recent symposium exploring the intersection of architecture, artificial intelligence, and virtual worlds;
• initiatives that preserve the important legacy of the arts at UCLA, such as an oral history project documenting and archiving the fifty-five year history of dance at UCLA, home of the first dance department in a public university.
