Working to fund summer fellowships.
Each summer, Fielding students collectively conduct over 60,000 hours of Applied Practice Experiences (APEx), formerly known as Fieldwork Fellowships, in communities across the globe. This experience is a critical part of our students’ public health training. It enables them to translate classroom learning into real world skills and to make connections that can help shape their future public health careers.
Yet, many impactful training opportunities are unpaid. Nearly half of our students need support to be able to engage in meaningful experiences. For example, Rae S., who received a fellowship for her unpaid internship at a nonprofit that focuses on environmental health and social justice shared, “The fellowship allowed me financial stability for the summer. Without it, I would have needed to work a second job on late nights and weekends to pay for my living expenses and transportation.”
Help our students conduct meaningful summer experiences in vulnerable communities, and impact health worldwide, with a generous gift to the FSPH Applied Practice Experience (APEx) Fund.
