The Social Welfare Racial Justice Fellowship Fund supports the following:

The Janelle Nelson Memorial Fellowship

The Janelle Nelson Memorial Scholarship will be offered by the Department of Social Welfare in honor of one of our MSW students. Janelle had a tremendous impact on the students, staff, and faculty of the Social Welfare Department in a short time before her untimely passing in 2023. Janelle was passionate about ensuring access to physical and mental health care for everyone in need of support, as well as ensuring quality of health services. She joined the MSW program to obtain the skills and knowledge to advocate for communities with limited access to health and mental health services.

The Janelle Nelson Memorial Scholarship will be offered to a student who wants to specialize in eliminating racial disparities in access to quality health and mental health care treatment, services, and care.

The Luskin Social Welfare Racial Justice Fellowship

The Luskin Social Welfare Racial Justice Fellowship will be offered to Masters and PhD students in Social Welfare who choose to focus on social welfare practice, policy, or research related to pursuing racial justice.
