Making UCLA a possibility for students from low-income families.
While the number of applications to UCLA continues to grow, so does the cost of higher education. For many students, attending UCLA is made possible by the scholarships they receive.
Anna George ’18, Environmental Science, is a perfect spokesperson for the potential that can be reached with a scholarship. George believes that “college is such a great time to try new things.” Some of those new things include the leadership and public speaking skills she’s honed while at UCLA—an opportunity she might not have had if she hadn’t come to UCLA on scholarship.
For students like George, expenses can add up quickly. George credits the scholarship she received in her freshman year for making it possible for her to attend UCLA and take advantage of the many diverse opportunities offered. And not having the added stress of a financial burden has allowed her to build a community at UCLA, through extracurricular activities such as the Outdoor Leadership Training Program that leads backpacking trips and seminars, and Sustainable Youth, which educates children on environmental issues.
Your gift to the Need-based Scholarships Fund provides financial assistance to help the most qualified and highest achieving individuals—like Anna George—to focus on high performance in their studies and involvement in the Bruin community. Your gift might create life-changing opportunities for UCLA students.
