Give students with financial need and academic ability the opportunity to take full advantage of a UCLA Samueli education.
Students at the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering are among the most talented and high-achieving in California and across the globe. More than 30 students apply for each undergraduate opening at UCLA Samueli, making the school one of the most competitive in the nation.
The school is known for delivering a world-class education for students who want to learn, create and make positive contributions to society. Our rigorous curriculum includes hands-on work in laboratories and a requirement that students take three engineering courses outside of their chosen major in order to collaborate more effectively with students in other campus units. Cross-disciplinary skills and knowledge are key to finding practical and thoughtful solutions to global challenges we’re facing — cleaner and more efficient sources of energy; access to clean water; personalized and cost-effective health care; and computer and infrastructure security to name a few.
UCLA Samueli offers a variety of programmatic support to ensure that 100% of undergraduates have the opportunity to conduct research or participate in an internship. Our more-than-40 student-run engineering and computer science clubs provide invaluable leadership opportunities and hands-on, design-and-build experience, further preparing students for professional roles in industry. However, the rising costs associated with an engineering education means that our students struggle to balance affording a UCLA education with reaching their full potential both inside and outside of the classroom. As students and families come to terms with the full impact of the pandemic on their financial circumstances, a scholarship can make the difference in a student’s academic viability and well-being—helping them seize opportunities that can have far-reaching impacts on their future successes without worrying about financial constraints.
Scholarships for undergraduates are critical to helping remove financial barriers for talented and hard-working students from all walks of life, enabling the school to recruit future change-making engineers and scientists.
