CREATING LASTING MEMORIES IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS

The great outdoors is a place to find renewal, natural wonder and inspiration. Henry David Thoreau once said, “We can never have enough of nature.” Each summer, 800 families of Bruin alumni, faculty and staff get to commune with nature on the north shore of Lake Arrowhead at UCLA’s Bruin Woods Family Resort. The setting offers a joyful respite from the bustle of busy lives. At Bruin Woods, families soak up the sun, participate in sports and social activities, and make lasting memories.

To create this place of reprieve requires hospitality from UCLA student staff. Fifty-four UCLA students spend the summer at Bruin Woods. The student staffers work hard to maintain the magic of Bruin Woods and create an unforgettable family camp experience. Bruin Woods student staff members are carefully selected from qualified, diverse Bruins who possess a strong work ethic, sense of responsibility and desire to be a great role model.

The Bruin Woods Scholarship Fund recognizes the extraordinary efforts of these students and awards scholarships to student staff based on their outstanding and exemplary service. Scholarships help cover the student’s UCLA tuition and fees, giving them the opportunity to focus on education and extracurricular activities rather than fretting about finances.

The great outdoors are accessible to everyone, but much of the time a college education is not. Your gift provides a financial respite for the UCLA students who provide entertaining, relaxing experiences in the great outdoors. Your gift helps give back to those who help create lasting memories.
