Who’s got spirit? From sporting events to campus events, the UCLA Spirit Squad entertains audiences and rouses crowds on behalf of UCLA through cheer, dance, and mascots.
The Spirit Squad comprises members of the UCLA Cheer Squad, Dance Team, Yell Crew, and mascots Joe and Josie Bruin, who volunteer their talents and enthusiasm at athletic events, including all football and basketball games. The squad also makes campus appearances and participates in outreach opportunities.
Spirit Squad members volunteer an average of 20 hours per week to serve as university ambassadors, in local and global communities. Additionally, members volunteer an average of 20 hours per week to serve as university ambassadors, in local and global communities. For example, the squad interacts with alumni on events. They nurture the Junior Spirit Squad, in which more than 200 young Bruins, ages toddler to teen, participate in cheer and dance. And squad members support special events, such as the Special Olympics World Games, where they helped to mentor and coach cheerleaders of different abilities.
