PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Around the world, communities are navigating rapid change — from shifting climates to evolving migration patterns and new economic and geopolitical realities. UCLA’s new Master of Global Public Affairs (MGPA) empowers future leaders to meet these challenges with local insight, practical skills, and evidence-based solutions rooted in community experiences.
Alongside one of the most diverse student bodies in the global city of Los Angeles, our students will study and research with esteemed faculty with international expertise. They will unite around a belief that even the biggest problems can be solved by thinking beyond borders, beyond politics, beyond our own lifetime experiences.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Professional degree program that draws from the unique combination of the three disciplines housed in the Luskin School: Public Policy, Social Welfare, and Urban Planning.
- Trains practitioners in analytical and practical skills and global best practices that can be tailored to particular geographic contexts and fields (e.g. housing, transportation, social and health services, disaster mitigation, etc.), across public, private, and nonprofit (NGOs/ foundations) sectors.
- Matches students with mentors from its Leaders’ Circle (former members of congress, ambassadors, and other distinguished practitioners in the field of global public affairs).
