UCLA prepares students who will transform the profession of nursing.
The role of the nurse at the bedside is changing. Today, nurses are seeking solutions to the challenges they see every day — and the UCLA School of Nursing, the most competitive undergraduate degree program on the UCLA campus, is at the forefront, preparing our nurse leaders of tomorrow.
Ranked among the top nursing schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report, the UCLA School of Nursing is redefining nursing through the pursuit of uncompromised excellence in research, education, practice, policy and patient advocacy. The school has a rich history of blazing the trail for nursing research and is continually pushing the boundaries to improve health.
And from a health center in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles to communities throughout China to small rural villages in India and Uganda, the school is engaging with local partners to improve the health of entire populations.
For some students, financial support is necessary to make their dreams come true. The Dean Marie J. Cowan Endowed Scholarship Fund — named after the late Cowan, who served as dean of the School of Nursing from 1997–2008 — was established to benefit both undergraduate and graduate students in the school.
